Greek Salad Dressing

About Greek salad dressing :

Most of us have never been to Greece, and therefore, coming up with the perfect Greek salad dressing recipe can be frustrating.  You may have been to Greek restaurants where you were served a Greek salad, but knowing what was in it when it comes time to prepare one yourself is probably not something that you thought about taking notes on.
The good news is that it is one of the easiest recipes to prepare, and takes no time at all.  If you need a last minute salad for a get-together, go with this Greek salad recipe and you can’t go wrong.

Greek Salad Dressing Recipe:

A Greek salad consists of many different types of vegetables.  The most common vegetables served in a Greek salad include:

Greek Salad Ingredients:

Lettuce, preferably a Romaine lettuce or another type that has a strong taste to it.  When you add your Greek dressing to the salad, you don’t want to just taste the dressing, as it too has quite a strong taste to it.
Cucumbers in Greek Salad are a must for any Greek salad recipe.  They will add a great fresh flavor, with a nice bit of crunch. Whether you peel the skins or not are simply preference.  Many high-class restaurants leave the skins on for the added color.

Tomatoes in greek salad are another must for any Greek salad recipe.  If you are lucky enough to have fresh, home-grown tomatoes available, you will enjoy the most wonderful Greek salad, however, if you are forced to look to store-bought tomatoes, I would go with the vine-ripened tomatoes, or cherry.

Onions, whether white or red are more times than not added to a Greek salad, but I always recommend chopping them a bit on the large side just in case your visitors are not fans of onions.

Green or Sweet red peppers add a beautiful color to your salad, with a great taste to go along with it.  Whatever your preference when it comes to peppers will be just fine in your salad.
I have also seen Greek salads that included green olives.  This is simply preference, so you decide.
There would not be a Greek salad without feta cheese.
Greek Salad Dressing
Once you have all of your ingredients chopped and ready to go, it is time to prepare your Greek salad dressing.

Greek Salad Dressing Ingredients:

Vinegar
Olive Oil
Red Wine
Black Pepper
Oregano
Just measure each ingredient to taste and mix well.
Preparing your Greek salad for serving is just adding the salad ingredients with the Greek dressing and giving it a light toss.
If you plan on saving your leftovers, I would recommend not mixing the dressing with salad until you have served it in individual dishes.
I hope you find this recipe as easy and tasty as I do.
